Case Study - COVID19-PANDEMIC I ILKAY GÜNDOGAN

CHALLENGE: The Covid pandemic brings public life to a standstill in all parts of the world. Many existences are threatened. National player llkay Gündogan wants to take care of people hit hardest by the pandemic during the Covid Lockdown.

SOLUTION

We are developing a multi-stage plan for the national player to take initiatives around the Covid pandemic.

STEP 1

During the 1st wave, we initiate a grocery shopping service in the Covid Hotspot Heinsberg for particularly vulnerable people in the crisis region. In addition, Ilkay donates numerous thank-you packages to the staff of the intensive care units in the hospitals there in recognition of the tireless efforts. In Nuremberg, we are active together with Gündogan and distribute vouchers for a visit to a thermal spa to the hospital staff.

We are also organising a mask donation in Ilkay's hometown of Gelsenkirchen, which will help local people protect themselves against the virus.

STEP 2

Before the predicted 2nd wave, the national player himself is diagnosed with Covid. After his recovery, we place Gündogan in a wide variety of media to share his experience of the pandemic with the world. On his birthday in October 2020, the ManCity player visits the Old Age and Youth Home in Manchester and presents the residents with unforgettable moments and pay-TV packages.

In the course of his great commitment, the Federal Ministry of Health approaches us, together we initiate a participation in the nationwide #ichhatteCorona campaign.

STEP 3

As a result of the extended lockdown in England, more than 6,000 gastronomic businesses have already had to close. Together with the ManCity player, we are initiating the "Charity for Manchester" campaign, which runs until the end of the season. The proceeds from auctions of matchworn jerseys, shoes and a virtual Meet&Greet will be used to support restaurants and cafés in Ilkay's second home. In addition, Ilkay is helping to finance a life-saving surgery for Dilara, who suffers with Morbus Ollier, by auctioning a matchworn jersey.

We place Ilkay on the well-known talk show "Maischberger die woche". In a prominent panel, the national player talks about the course of his Covid disease.

STEP 4

During the period of Ramadan, Ilkay donates more than 3,000 meals to the residents of an orphanage and other needy people in the Indonesian capital Jakarta with the help of the Indonesian ManCity fan club "ManCity Supporters Club Indo". In addition, he sends gifts as his jersey to the country with the largest Muslim population in the world.
